RCP Software
Bowling Software
Welcome to the home of easy to use and inexpensive bowling data management software by RCP Software for
scoring a wide variety of bowling sweepers events, standard tournaments, specialized tournaments, and various
types of special events. This software was created by a regular league bowler (3 perfect games) for other bowlers,
not by some computer geeks who are unfamiliar with the bowling world and just want to make a buck off league
secretaries by selling them buggy, expensive, hard to use software.

We are now the leader in providing inexpensive, powerful, and easy-to-use products for scoring bowling events.

What do our customers think?
Here are samples of some of the comments we have received.

    "Wow!"

    "I love your software!"

    "You saved my butt."  V.L.

"Had the scoring done before they had their street shoes on."

And here's one from April 2010:

"Love the software! Terrific manual to help me through and well-designed program. Easy to do data
input, figure out awards quickly and easy to understand. Thank you thank you thank you!"  Jenny P.

An alpha/beta tester for BowlerTracker described even the development versions as "pretty neat."

Our first commercial product was RCP SweeperScore, a handy application for quickly scoring simple or complex
bowling league sweepers, league or small house tournaments, and pot games. It also handles fairly large singles
and doubles events. This original line of products is now referred to as the SweeperScore Classic line because we
have a New Generation line of sweeper scoring products called
SuperSweeperScore (see description below). The
original line of products was broadened to include software to handle large singles tournaments and to add a utility
program to quickly calculate prize fund payouts. All of those products required Excel 2002 or later. That era of
computing is behind us now but the Classic era products are all still available, just in case your computer is more
than a few years old or you have an older version of Excel.

The most recent bowling data management software runs on a current Windows-based laptop computer outfitted
with Microsoft Office 2007 or later. Applications are powered by the industry standard Microsoft Excel. Several
such New Generation products were created in 2010 and 2011. They greatly expand the data management
possibilities. And more are always under development.

This modern data management software makes life much easier for league secretaries who want to have a
sweeper at the end of the league and be able to score it
instantly, and for tournament directors and bowling center
managers who want to quickly and easily determine the results of their tournaments. Interlocking prize fund payout
software makes determinations of payouts a snap. Results can be printed and posted quickly. You could even put
results up on the Internet, which might make sense in the case of a statewide or multi-state tournament.

A league or bowling center running an event that is to be scored in sweeper style (multiple scorings of the same
games) can run interesting events like round robin mixed doubles. In such an event, every man is paired with every
woman and every woman is paired with every man. In round robin generic doubles, everyone is paired with
everyone. Some leagues and tournament directors have found the Hi-Low Doubles (highest average bowler paired
with lowest average bowler, etc.) to be quite interesting. Such events can also be conducted based on the opt-in
method where bowlers select their partners and pay for each pair entered.

You can also run standard events such as team events during a sweeper, and still get the sweeper scored quickly
and accurately.

Specialized singles and doubles tournaments can be run with a Mulligan feature, dropping the lowest score of four
games, and not just on St. Patrick's Day.
SuperSingles-n-Doubles, new for 2010, can handle this easily as well as
managing thousands of entrants in a singles or doubles tournament bowling up to 114 games apiece in a marathon
event spanning weeks.

The original RCP SweeperScore Classic, original SuperSingles, and original DivvyItUp! for determining prize fund
payouts
only require Microsoft Excel, version 2002 or later. The instructions are written in Microsoft Word.

The last of the Classic line versions of SweeperScore is version 3.7, last upgraded in 2009. There are several
editions within that main version to handle different combination of events and as of February 2011, it is now
available in a modular construction version so you can build your own personalized version, paying for just the
features you want. See the
Products & Prices list for details. This is the last version of SweeperScore or any other
RCP Software products to be written for Excel 2002 and 2003.

Now there is a New Generation line of such sweeper software (SuperSweeperScore) which is far more powerful
and versatile, taking advantage of numerous advances in basic computer software and hardware. The
SuperSweeperScore versions developed during 2010 require Excel 2007. There is also a New Generation version
of
DivvyItUp!, a New Generation SuperSingles-n-Doubles, and a new for 2010 line of products called
TourneyScore. The first edition (League-Bowling Center Edition) of TourneyScore was released for sale on
October 12, 2010. All the new generation products have self-teaching tutorials contained within the software.

To get some idea of what type and size events you can score with our software, and which applications you should
use, drawing on both the Classic Line and the New Generation Line, look at
Bowling Events & Appropriate
Software Solutions. Also look at the Products & Prices list. Of course, the software is very flexible and various users
have come up with their own innovative ideas for special events that can be scored quickly such as Halloween and
Valentine's Day events during the regular league season.

In the future we will strive to create even more innovative bowling software applications to make life even easier for
league secretaries, tournament club managers, bowling associations, bowling centers, and others who want to
quickly score simple or complex sweepers, tournaments, and special events, and for bowlers who just don't want
to wait around a long time while that complex sweeper, tournament, or large doubles or singles event is being
scored on paper, or with old, cranky DOS-based software that looks like it belongs in the Smithsonian, or with
proprietary format software that is unreliable. Software we provide will score these events in seconds, even when
they have thousands of entrants.

Due to superior product quality, RCP Software is now the leader, and will continue to be, for supplying software to
score tournaments, bowling sweepers, and other special bowling events. Our software will always cost less than
and outperform other commercially available software for scoring special events. All bowling software created by
RCP Software will be easy to use as well as being inexpensive. We will create any kind of special scoring software
that is technically feasible as long as people request it and are willing to purchase it.

Early on we heard complaints about bowling software for scoring league sweepers not being available at all or not
being available in an integrated form that will allow the same three games bowled in the sweeper to be scored
multiple ways (such as men's doubles, women's doubles, men's singles, women's singles, teams, mixed doubles,
hi-low doubles, generic doubles, etc.) in one software application. People told us they searched the Internet in vain
and could only find expensive software that didn't even cover all the events they wanted to run. They would have to
buy several different programs and pay a king's ransom for each one in order to handle all the events they had in
mind for their sweepers. And then they would have to enter the data more than once. So they just gave up and
continued doing it on paper, often taking hours to score their sweepers while annoyed bowlers waited for the
results. And tournament directors, and bowling center managers, who wished to conduct large singles or doubles
events were quoted huge prices for software that then turned out to be hard to use as well as expensive.

And during 2008 I heard several stories about league secretaries trying to score events with old DOS-based
software or proprietary format software that froze up, leaving them unable to retrieve the data they had entered or
to do anything with it. And then some of them saw another league secretary running the original SweeperScore
which calculated results in seconds, displaying the results in an easy to read format. Then they called RCP
Software. Two of the best "Are you kidding me?" stories came out of Las Vegas where SweeperScore was used to
instantly score some huge sweepers that stretched out across the lanes of very large bowling centers, with other
envious league secretaries watching. The last story I heard (October 2010) mentioned that the scoring was done
before the last bowlers to finish had their street shoes on.

Software for scoring even simple events like a small singles tournament is often priced at $150 or more by
previously existing software companies, according to other bowlers who have checked around and searched the
Internet, and based on our own searches as well. And that outrageous price is for scoring only 1500 bowlers
bowling only 12 games! A number of vendors of poor products are charging prices like $299 for simple tournament
software. That is just plain ridiculous. Large singles or doubles tournaments can have thousands of bowlers. And
for a special singles event you might want to bowl more than 12 games. How about 21 or 30 or 40 games in some
qualifying event? I have heard people were quoted prices like $500 for such software. Special software for scoring
a large singles tournament or qualifier rounds that can involve many games has been available for several years
from RCP Software and at a far lower price. Look at RCP Software's
SuperSingles which was created in May 2007
to run on Excel 2002 or 2003. SuperSingles will handle 3,000 singles bowlers bowling up to 40 games (i.e. 120,000
scores) for $65.00. Even larger capacity software is available as of April 2010 in standard form that works with
Excel 2007 or later, or by special order, but we won't pick your pockets clean, unlike the software design predators
out there.

As of April 2010, a New Generation version of software to handle singles or doubles tournaments is available.
SuperSingles-n-Doubles 2010 has even more advanced features (including handling Mulligan singles or doubles),
has a larger capacity (4,000 singles or 8,000 doubles bowlers), special tracking ID # compatibility with the new-for-
2010
BowlerTracker, and is powered by Excel 2007 or later.

All bowling software created by RCP Software will be in standard, widely available, and easily usable formats
unlike the bowling software previously available from other vendors which is commonly in highly proprietary
formats. One consequence of using Excel that many purchasers discovered is that the software was very easy to
learn. One 2007 customer bought SweeperScore on a Thursday and used it successfully that Saturday to score a
singles event. New applications have embedded self-teaching tutorials. That will be the future standard.

During 2008 there were several inquiries about software to instantly calculate payoff distributions. A new
application to handle that task was released May 15, 2008. The classic line version of that payout calculation
software (
RCP DivvyItUp!) is still available by e-mail to any current or former purchasers of SweeperScore Pro v3.
7 for an additional $20. It can instantly provide a wide variety of payout lists for prize funds ranging from small
amounts up to tens of thousands of dollars. A lite version is embedded in
SuperSingles 1.3 up to the space
available. These early versions of products, which all work with Excel 2002 or later, are still available to those with
somewhat older computers or older versions of Excel.

A New Generation version of the DivvyItUp! payout calculation software is now set up to work in conjunction with
SuperSingles-n-Doubles
, SuperSweeperScore and TourneyScore. It is available at a discounted price as part of
packages based on the primary scoring application. A lite version of the newest payout software is embedded in
the new
SuperSingles-n-Doubles. The full current version of RCP DivvyItUp! that requires Excel 2007 or later is
also available as a standalone application.

The New Generation 2010 version of DivvyItUp! has larger capacities and more distributions than the classic
versions. It will handle payouts to 5, 10, 12, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45, 50, 55, 60, 65, 70, 75, 80, 100, and 150
winners, with several types of distributions at most of these levels. The 2011 versions have capacities up to 700
places as of March 5, 2011, and may be expanded even further, depending on feedback. It has handy tools for
quickly determining amounts when several people or teams are tied. It requires Microsoft Excel 2007 or later.

The 2010 and later New Generation versions of SweeperScore, known as SuperSweeperScore, also have some
greatly expanded capabilities to handle really large leagues or events with really large round-robin mixed and
generic doubles events. Other features have also been added, including the ability to score up to 8 games instead
of just the classic 3 games for sweepers and special events. Several other neat features are being planned and/or
tested at the present time. They will be incorporated in future versions.

The last product released during 2010 was TourneyScore. This handles standard tournaments of the teams-
singles-doubles-all events type. We departed from the specialty tournaments scoring line of products to create it
because I heard quite a number of complaints about other companies' software for scoring standard tournaments
being hard to use, being slow, producing strange results, costing too much, even crashing right in the middle of a
tournament, and not having good support when things went south. TourneyScore has the same look and feel and
ease of use as the SweeperScore line of products. It determines results in seconds. It works with
DivvyItUp! to
quickly and easily produce winners/payouts lists. And it costs far less than what tournament directors have been
quoted by competitors for inferior software. See
Products & Prices for pricing details.

In January 2011, an updated 2011 version of SuperSweeperScore was released. It has huge capacities and
features the latest in bowling data management technology.
It has a whole galaxy of new features and can be
configured exactly as you desire by purchasing only the modules you need in addition to the base version which
includes one team event and mixed doubles. Modular construction has resulted in dramatically reduced prices too!

    FUTURE PROJECTS
We will post notes right here about projects currently underway. If you want something special and don't see it
described on this site, call us. If it's something we can do, and if you pay in advance (pre-order), it will be next up
in the projects list. As my wife and others who have seen me in action will tell you, I write code so fast it would
    make you dizzy.

RCP LeagueScore is currently being written because customers or prospective customers of two other bowling
software companies complained their software for handling leagues from week-to-week had problems. Several
mentioned it was also too expensive. The software is going to be set up to handle a wide variety of situations and
back and forth suggestions are being considered and incorporated. All the ideas should be evaluated and
incorporated or rejected fairly soon It will be priced way below (probably around $50) what others are asking and will
be further discounted (to around $30) for those who purchase or have already purchased another primary scoring
product from RCP Software.

I have received an inquiry about larger capacity men's and women's doubles software for handling regularly
conducted and specially scored doubles tournaments that would allow simultaneous scoring of mixed, men's, and
women's doubles off the same games (i.e., in sweeper style), as has been possible with SweeperScore for some
time, but for larger numbers of bowlers, in the 300 range. Unless pre-empted by a special paid-in-advance pre-
order for something else, something along this line will likely be the next enhancement to SuperSweeperScore and
possibly the next software project. The additional code required to power such a combination would be quite large
but we will try to keep the price of any specially enhanced version of SuperSweeperScore well under $200 even
though I understand people have been quoted $750 and up for software capable of handling of such numbers of
doubles bowlers. And the product will be set up to work with
DivvyItUp!

I have also received several inquiries about the possibility of producing an enhanced version of
SuperSweeperScore that would enable the scoring of singles events larger than 400 bowlers while simultaneously
scoring opt-in doubles off the same scores so that some of the singles bowlers could simultaneously participate in
an optional doubles event scored from the same games. The coupled doubles events could be of several types
(mixed, men's women's), all scored simultaneously. That is certainly an interesting idea and it is technically
feasible. That is also a fairly large undertaking, however, so if you are looking for something like that, call us. Paid-
in-advance orders would put it higher in the queue.

Bottom line: The project with the pre-orders goes to the head of the projects list.

If you have a request for software you don't already see at this Web site or which hasn't been mentioned as being
under construction, call us at (530) 306-6370 (cell) and tell us what you want. Remember, those who speak up first
and pay first go to the head of the development line.
